SOROTI MUSEUM

Soroti Museum is a cultural and historical museum located in Soroti City in the Teso sub-region of eastern Uganda. The museum serves as a place where the history, culture, traditions, and heritage of the Iteso people and the wider Teso region are preserved and shared with present and future generations.

The museum showcases traditional artifacts, tools, crafts, photographs, historical materials, and other objects that tell stories about the lives, customs, beliefs, and experiences of the people of Teso. Visitors can learn about traditional ways of farming, hunting, cooking, dressing, craftsmanship, music, dance, and community life.

Beyond preserving objects, Soroti Museum provides an opportunity for cultural education, research, tourism, and community engagement. It connects younger generations with their heritage while giving visitors an understanding of the rich cultural identity of the Teso people.

It’s mission is to preserve and promote the cultural and historical heritage of Teso, encourage learning and research, and provide a welcoming space where communities and visitors can discover, appreciate, and celebrate the region’s heritage.
